Thriller: The Next Scream You Hear (ITV 6 Jul 1974, Richard Todd)

The Next Scream You Hear begins when prominent businessman Bernard Peel is accused of murdering his wife. His firm bring in Private Detective extraordinaire Matthew Earp who very quickly realises that the case is not a straight forward one; with more than one person involved covering up vital evidence.

Second appearance for the character of Matthew Earp (the only time this happened throughout the whole run of the series, Earp also appeared in the season one episode An Echo Of Theresa). Clemens has said that he hoped to turn the Earp character into a spin off series but it unfortunately never materialised. it’s actually a deliberately low key, straight forward mystery story. Good guest appearances too from a couple of stalwarts of British cinema in the shape of Richard Todd and Derek Bond. Incidentally Christopher George’s real life wife Lynda Day George had appeared in the previous weeks Thriller Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are.
