Tom Ellis Won’t Be Joining Downton Abbey After All

The rumour mill had been in overdrive for awhile with news getting out that Tom Ellis would be appearing in the next season of ITV’s Downton Abbey, most likely as love interest to Lady Mary (played by Michelle Dockery) but The Sun has revealed that the actor is definitely NOT going to appear on the show.

Tom himself tweeted: “OK, so it’s been lovely to hear all the congrats for Downton but the truth is I’m not going to be in it… but thank you for your messages xxx”

Yet Tom, wed to actress Tamzin Outhwaite, did reveal he has landed a role in a pilot for new American TV horror series Gothica.

He is to play Victor Frankenstein in the show, described as a “sexy gothic soap” set in the present day, and will appear with Smash actor Raza Jaffrey.
