CHARLOTTE CHURCH GETS OWN SHOW

Showing: Channel 4

Channel 4 today confirms that it has commissioned a new Friday night entertainment series hosted by the inimitable Charlotte Church.

The eight-part series (8 x 45 minutes) entitled The All New Charlotte Church Show (working title) will transmit in a peak-time Friday night slot from September and will be one of the highlights of Channel 4’s autumn season. Recorded close to transmission in front of a studio audience, the series will feature a mix of celebrity guests who’ll join in with the fun, whether it’s taking part in items with the audience or joining Charlotte in sketches and music performances. Each week, Charlotte will also take to the streets to film stunts and hidden camera moments that may range from her taking part in a talent contest as a Charlotte Church tribute act to working in an information booth in a busy shopping centre.

The series will be produced by production company Monkey, whose previous credits include Make My Day and Swinging. The Executive Producers are Will Macdonald and David Granger.

Charlotte Church says: “I’m so excited to have my own TV show. I have a brilliant team around me and it’s great to be given the opportunity to act in sketches, have fun with members of the public and meet some fabulous people. I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I enjoy making it.”

Andrew Newman, Head of Entertainment and Comedy at Channel 4 says: "Charlotte Church is such an exciting talent and while she is one of the biggest stars in the country, she remains almost completely unaffected by it. Despite being a modern celebrity icon she has a fantastic, down-to-earth sense of humour and an infectious enthusiasm and energy in the studio. Her unique mix of star quality and no nonsense attitude makes her incredibly likeable and makes the show great fun. We are thrilled to have her new series on Channel 4."

Will Macdonald of Monkey says: “Charlotte is just great. She’s funny, charming and smart and about the most natural all-round talent in this country. And she’s still only twenty.”
