THE ROYAL SEASON SIX

UK | ITV1 Network | Sundays @ 8:00

The latest season of the homely sixties set The Royal features some changes with cast departures and the reappearance of former administrator T.J. Middleditch.

The series opens with Dr Jeff Goodwin (Paul Fox) in Africa as he struggles to treat civilians caught up in the Biafran war. He is struck by the devastation around him and, in a desperate bid to help, he promises a dying mother that he will take care of her 10 year old daughter. In the middle of the war zone, he faces becoming a surrogate parent and is naturally concerned that he is doing the right thing for the child. If he decides to return to The Royal, will he take the young Nigerian child with him? Or is it better for her if she stays in her own country?

Back in Yorkshire, Carnegie (Robert Cavanah) is stunned to learn from Matron (Wendy Craig) that Nurse Deane (Amelia Curtis) is pregnant. Is he the father? Or has Nurse Deane another beau?

While Carnegie stresses, Frankie (Scott Taylor) and Alun (Andy Wear) become excited when singing sensation Dorcas (Sarah Barrand) and her Dreamboats come to town, but they soon discover all is not what it seems and she has a dark secret.

Girls about town, Stella (Natalie Anderson) and Lizzie (Michelle Hardwick) fall into the trap of letting a man come between them when a sexy Chauffeur (Stefan Booth) attempts to seduce both of them. However, unwanted male attention in a later episode teaches Stella the importance of friendship.

Dr Ormerod (Robert Daws) clashes with new arrival, Dr Mike Banner (Sam Callis) over their different work methods. Can they put aside their differences and agree to work together for the sake of the hospital and Ormerod’s wife Dr Weatherill (Amy Robbins) who is really feeling the pressure of their clash of personalities?

Guest stars this series include Trevor Peacock, Sarah Barrand, Stefan Booth, Charles Dale, Lesley Pinner, Ted Robbins, Andrew Dunn and Daniel Casey.
