We have the low down on the cast of this this sixties set medical drama series.  

CAST BIOGRAPHIES
NATALIE ANDERSON (Nurse Stella Davenport)
Natalie’s previous television credits include Dalziel and Pascoe and The Biz. Natalie has recently starred in the ITV1 drama Wire in the Blood with Robson Green.


LINDA ARMSTRONG (Sister Brigid) 
Linda’s television credits include EastEnders, Brookside, Casualty, The Bill, Dangerfield, Peak Practice, A Touch of Frost and Rough Treatment. She also has numerous theatre credits to her name including Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Annie Wobbler, Decadence and Semi - Detached. She has also appeared at The Comedy Store.


IAN CARMICHAEL (T.J. Middleditch)
Ian is one of Britain’s most distinguished actors. His theatre credits include, Tunnel of Love, The Gazebo, Devil May Care, Say Who You Are and Getting Married. He has appeared in films such as Betrayed, Colditz Story, Private’s Progress, I’m All Right Jack, Brother In Law, School For Scoundrels and Lucky Jim. He also has numerous television credits to his name including The Importance of Being Earnest, Simon and Laura, 90 Years On, Strathblair and the outstandingly successful The World of Wooster in which he played Bertie Wooster. He has also directed the television series Mr Pastry’s Progress, It’s A Small World and We Beg To Differ.

WENDY CRAIG (Matron)
Wendy has had a long and distinguished career in film, television and theatre. She has received popular acclaim for her roles in Butterflies by Carla Lane and The Servant for which she received a British Academy Award nomination. She has been voted TV Drama Actress of the Year by BAFTA, and the BBC and ITV Personality of the Year by The Variety Club of Great Britain. Wendy’s other credits include Candida, Wings of a Dove, The Forsyth Saga, Nanny, which was based on her own idea and format, Not In Front Of The Children, and Mother Makes Three, Mother Makes Five.


SAM CALLIS (Dr Mike Banner)
Prior to joining The Royal Sam has appeared in numerous television dramas including Ultimate Force and London’s Burning. Sam also has an extensive list of theatre productions to his name including; A Midsummer Night’s Dream (produced in New York), The Tempest, The Winter’s Tale and Comedy of Errors which also toured internationally.


ROBERT CAVANAH (Adam Carnegie) 
Robert is one of TV’s most recognised faces and has appeared in many of the UK’s top dramas. He recently appeared as D.I. Dalcastle in Rebus and is remembered for playing Tommy, Vicky Fowler’s lecturer and boyfriend in Eastenders. His other television credits include Rose and Maloney; Charles II; Silent Witness; Murder In Mind; Casualty; Cracker; Judge John Deed; Hamish Macbeth and Lynda La Plante’s The Governor. He also played the part of Agent Stevens alongside Angelina Jolie in the second Tomb Raider film.


KARI CORBETT (Nurse Marian McKaig)
Kari has worked in both theatre and television prior to joining the cast of The Royal. Her theatre credits include the much anticipated Whistleblowers by Carnival Films as well as Sea Of Souls, Monarch Of The Glen, Doctors and Jeopardy. Her theatre credits include: Hannelle, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and Alice In Wonderland.


AMELIA CURTIS (Nurse Catherine Deane)
Amelia’s television credits include the drama’s Class of 76, which she starred in alongside Robert Carlisle; New Tricks; A Thing Called Love and At Home With The Braithwaites. She also starred in Harry Enfield’s feature film Kevin and Perry Go Large.


ROBERT DAWS (Dr. Gordon Ormerod)
Robert has appeared in numerous television, film and theatre productions. His television credits include Roger Roger, Office Gossip, Sword of Honour, Take A Girl Like You, Casualty, The House of Elliott and Outside Edge. His film roles include Arthur’s Dyke and Trumps. His theatre credits include Caught In The Net, How Was It For You?, On Your Way, Riley and Breakneck. Robert was nominated for Best Comedy Actor at the 1995 Comedy Awards.


PAUL FOX (Dr. Jeffrey Goodwin)
Paul has appeared in many hit television series including Coronation Street in which he played Mike Baldwin’s son Mark Redman, Emmerdale, City Central, Life Force, Starhunter, The Ward and Hearts and Minds. On stage Paul has been seen in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet and Too Cold For Snow. Paul’s film credits include Simon and Hero.


MICHELLE HARDWICK (Lizzie Hopkirk)
Michelle’s television credits include Heartbeat and Coronation Street. On stage she has appeared in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Erpingham Camp and The Merry Wives Of Windsor.


KANANU KIRIMI (Dr Joan Makori)
Kananu starred in the critically acclaimed drama Ahead of The Class, starring Julie Walters and also appeared in Steven Frears’, award winning, drama The Queen. Her other TV credits include Waking The Dead and The Inspector Lynley Mysteries.


DENIS LILL (Mr. Rose)

Denis has numerous film roles to his name including President Farrell in Evita and Dr Holmes in Mrs Dalloway. His television credits include the legendary Survivors, two series of Outside Edge, Only Fools and Horses, and Rumpole of The Bailey. He has many theatre credits to his name, including An Inspector Calls, Brassed Off, Kafka’s Dick, and Mrs Warren’s Profession.


AMY ROBBINS (Dr. Jill Weatherill)
Amy has appeared in many top rated television series including Dalziel and Pascoe, My Beautiful Son, Casualty, People Like Us, Happiness, My Hero, Where The Heart Is and EastEnders. She also has a huge variety of films to her name including Killing Me Softly, All The Little Animals, and The Jungle Book II. Her theatre credits include Four Dogs And A Bone, Dona Rosita and The Country Wife.


SCOTT TAYLOR (Frankie Robinson)
Scott’s television credits include Coronation Street, Doctors, Dream Team, Heartbeat and Down to Earth. His film credits include Sex, Love and Toenails and Going Back. While his theatre credits include Beauty And The Beast.


MICHAEL STARKE (Ken Hopkirk)
Michael became a well loved television actor through his role as Sinbad in Brookside. Other credits include Casualty, Holby City, Stig of The Dump and the film The 51st State. On stage, Michael has appeared in many productions including Blood Brothers and The Play Wot I Wrote, which was directed by Kenneth Branagh. Michael has recently joined Coronation Street to play Jerry Morton.


ANDY WEAR (Alun Morris)
Andy’s television credits include three series of Bad Influence, two series of Big Bag, Heartbeat and The Cops. He has also appeared in numerous theatre productions for Barrie Rutter’s award winning theatre company Northern Broadsides. Productions include Twelfth Night, King Lear, Much Ado About Nothing, Alcestis and Antony and Cleopatra.
