CASTLE HAVEN

UK / Yorkshire Television / 104x30 minutes / 1969-70 (Episode One Broadcast: Wednesday 2 April 1969

Creator: Kevin B Laffan / Producer: Peter Mortimer

Drama series. On the Yorkshire coast Castle Haven is a pair of large Victorian houses that have been converted into 8 flats, middle aged Tom and Sarah Meek are the caretakers whilst other residents included newly married Phil and Jo Mercer, shift worker Ivor Davies and his wife Alice and the Czechoslavakian Josip Pospichal. Put together by Emmerdale Farm creator Kevin Laffan, Castle Haven is a classic soapy style drama, never fully networked by ITV (74 episodes were shown by Thames between 27 June and 13 October 1972 when ITV started their afternoon broadcasts). Apparently the series is one the few Yorkshire shows to have been completely wiped (apart from that is, the second half of one episode)

With:- GRETCHEN FRANKLIN as Sarah Meek / GEORGE WARING as Tom Meek / KATHY STAFF as Lorna Everitt / JACK CARR as Philip Mercer / SALLY JAMES as Jo Mercer / ROY BARRACLOUGH as Harry Everitt / RAY GATENBY as Mr Pack / ERNST WALDER as Josip Pospichal / COLIN RIX as Ivor Davies / ANN KING as Alice Davies
