The first pilot , depicted the adventures of Cat Ballou, a rather outrageous Old West heroine, as her attempts to start a school against the wishes of a boneheaded sheriff and a foppish land developer.

In the second pilotCat Ballou hired Kid Sheleen, the frequently soused ex – gunfighter, to protect her from a land – hungry rancher trying to gain control of the land she recently inherited – and which brought her west to take ownership.
