Bookstand (BBC 1960-1961, Dennis Potter)
A fortnightly book overview programme presented by Dick Taverne mainly notable for the fact that Dennis Potter contributed scripts of short excerpts of the books being talked about, these were played out by actors and were directed by John McGrath.
The first edition featured excerpts from Hurry on Down, That Uncertain Feeling, Under the Net and A Kind of Loving.
Potter also appeared on screen several times during the shows run interviewing various people. When the show came back for a second season it ran for 30 minutes instead of 40 and dispensed with Potter’s scripted excerpts.
