Doctors’ Daughters (ITV 1981, Jack Watling, Richard Murdoch)
Doctors’ Daughters was a lesser known entry in the work of Doctor in the House creator Richard Gordon, it dealt with the delicate issue of old age with the three ageing Doctors of the Old Chapterhouse Surgery in the thoroughly old school Cathedral City of Mitrebury.
After 35 years running the practice the trio, Freddie Fellows-Smith, Roland Carmichael and “Bigging” Hill are persuaded that it’s time for them to retire, they agree to hand over the practice to younger doctors.
The new doctors are not quite what they had in mind though, especially as they happen to be female. Dr Fay Liston and Dr Lucy Drake and have strong ideas of improving the practice with the help of gynaecolagist Liz Arkdale.
