Sitcom. During the second world war French Cafe owner Rene Artois has trouble juggling the
demands of the resistance, the German invaders and escaping British airmen.
A blatant send up of the classic Secret
Army this sitcom featured incredibly complicated plots but somehow
managed to keep it all together. Very cartoon in style it starred Gorden
Kaye as cafe owner Rene Artois who during world war two is plagued by
not only the invading Germans but by the Resistance movement and downed
English airmen trying to get home.
With a large
cast of supporting characters, including Rene's wife Edith (who thought
she could sing but really couldn't), sexy waitress Yvette, German's Herr
Flick and his aide Helga and head of the French Resistance
Michelle.
