ALLO ALLO

UK / BBC1 / 81x30m-e 3x45m-e / 1984-92  First Ep: 7 Sep 1984 Last Ep:14 Dec 1992 Nine seasons

Creators: Jeremy Lloyd, David Croft / Musical Associate: Ray Moore / Producers: David Croft,John B.Hobbs

Sitcom. During the second world war French Cafe owner Rene Artois has trouble juggling the demands of the resistance, the German invaders and escaping British airmen.  A blatant send up of the classic Secret Army this sitcom featured incredibly complicated plots but somehow managed to keep it all together. Very cartoon in style it starred Gorden Kaye as cafe owner Rene Artois who during world war two is plagued by not only the invading Germans but by the Resistance movement and downed English airmen trying to get home.

With a large cast of supporting characters, including Rene's wife Edith (who thought she could sing but really couldn't), sexy waitress Yvette, German's Herr Flick and his aide Helga and head of the French Resistance Michelle.

The show was very farcical in nature with much revealing of stocking tops and underwear (and that's just the male characters). Allo Allo was also very catchphrase heavy featuring such delights as "You stupid woman", "Good moaning" and "Listen very carefully I shall say this only once". The show was an early evening staple for much of it's run with later seasons being extended out to 26 episodes per run, a 35 minute pilot was broadcast 30 Dec 1982 and a stage show also became something of a hit.

With:- GORDEN KAYE as Rene Artois / CARMEN SILVERA as Edith Artois / VICKI MICHELLE as Yvette / KIRSTEN COOKE as Michelle / RICHARD MARNER as Colonel Von Strohm / SAM KELLY as Capt Hans Geering / GUY SINER as Lt Gruber / KIM HARTMAN as Helga Geerhart / RICHARD GIBSON as Herr Flick / DAVID JANSON as Flick / ARTHUR BOSTRAM as Officer Crabtree / ROSE HILL as Fanny / NICHOLAS FRANKAU as Carstairs / HILARY MINSTER as Gen Von Klinkerhoffen / KENNETH CONNOR as Alfonse / JACK HAIG as Leclerc / DEREK ROYLE as Leclerc / ROBIN PARKINSON as Leclerc /   JOHN LOUIS MANSI as Von Smallhausen / GAVIN RICHARDS as Bertorelli / ROGER KITTER as Bertorelli
