The Brothers: A Bad Mistake (BBC-1 17 Nov 1974 with Richard Hurndall)
In A Bad Mistake Ted manages to almost ruin the whole floatation at an important meeting with city bankers by telling them in no uncertain terms that his workers will always come first much to the banker’s disgust. Ted feels highly humilated when he is forced by Paul Merrony and Martin Farrell to backtrack and make a statement to the press (who had quickly got wind of the story) that his comments were out of context.
Meanwhile Brian is making inroads into the divorce proceedings much to Ann’s displeasure (especially now that she has burnt her bridges with Nicholas Fox), Ann is even more disturbed when a private detective shows up on her doorstep telling her he is acting for Brian’s solicitors and is looking into her affair with Fox.
With the season building up to a high pressure finish, series co-creator N.J. Crisp takes over the script writing duties and in somewhat excellent fashion too it must be said.
