VAMPIRE DIARIES
USA / CW – Bonanza Productions Inc. – Outerbanks Entertainment – Alloy Entertainment – Warner Bros Television – CBS / 66×60 minute episodes / Broadcast 10 September 2009 – continuing
Executive Producers: Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Leslie Morganstein / Books: L. J. Smith
Tapping very much into our current obsession for all things vampiric Vampire Diaries adds something of a teen/young adult vibe to proceedings with its storyline about two brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore who just happen to be vampires. Returning home to the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, the pair become strongly enamored with Elena Gilbert – mainly because she looks exactly like Katherine Pierce, a vampire that the boys loved in 1864 but who was entombed by a witch’s spell so many years before.
Season one’s big finish was with a climactic Founder’s Day celebration that ended in a chaos and destruction and the unleashing once again of Katherine as well as possibly spelling the end for Elena’s brother Jeremy who had tried to commit suicide and her friends Tyler, Matt and Caroline were involved in a serious car accident.
Season two opened with Katherine, who it has to be said, is not overly nice spreading her influence over the town and it’s inhabitants and changing things forever.
Co-created by Kevin Williamson, the guiding light behind teen drama du jour Dawson’s Creek.
