Sitcom. Emmy Award winners John Larroquette (Night Court) and Christine Baranski (Cybill) play hopeful empty nesters who can't seem to get rid of their three adult aged kids. Although there does seem to be some chemistry between Larroquette and Baranski, the premise is bland and the "kids" -- Jeff Davis, Melanie Paxson and Tyler Francavilla -- are generic (Davis is a womanizer, Paxson an overachiever and Francavilla a wild man - you know the drill). One look at Happy Family and the observation been there, done that will come to mind.

HARPER VALLEY PTA
NBC/ 36x30m-e / 1981-82 First Episode: Friday 16 January 1981 / 8.00pm / Last Episode: Saturday 14 August 1982 / 8.30pmTheme Music: Harper Valley P.T.A. by Tom T. Hall
Sitcom starring Barbara Eden as
Stella Johnson a widow with a 13 year old daughter, Dee. The pair lived in
Harper Valley, Ohio, a Stepford Wives kind of a place, sweet on the surface but
with a sleazy undercurrent.
Stella was a very pro-active member of the school P.T.A. board a fact which
obviously gave the show it's title. The rest of the board thought Stella was far
too radical for them and were determined to be rid of her.
Leader of the PTA was the highly snooty Flora Simpson Reilly who hated Stella
with a passion. Reilly and her family played a big part in the series.
For season two there several changes (most notably the shortening of the title
to simply Harper Valley) with the PTA side of things taking a back seat and the
setting becoming more a traditional suburban one. Stella's inventor Uncle Buster
moved in with her and Dee for this season.
The show was actually based on the hit record of 1968 Harper Valley PTA by
Jeannie C. Riley which in turn led to the 1978 film of the same name which also
starred Barbara Eden as Stella.

NBC/ x15m-e / 1950-55 First Episode: Saturday 17 June 1950 / 8.00pm / Last Episode: Friday 7 July 1955 / 4.00pmDaytime soap opera (broadcast live from Chicago). The show had actually begun as a comedy drama on primetime before moving to daytime on 2 April 1951 and bringing in soapier elements. The plot concerned the lives of the residents of the town of the title (population 6,200) and main characters were Knap Drewer (a bedridden old man), his wife Lona and young runaway Roy Bettert who the pair adopted. The original night time run had a local reporter from the town relaying stories of town life (which we then saw acted out). In the night time version Frank Dane played the role of reporter Clate Weathers. When Knap was written out in 1953 his wife ended up marrying town doctor Floyd Corey. Other main players were Toby Winfield, reporter Mitch Fredericks, Sheriff Boylan, shopkeeper Calvin Sperry and town bum Laif Flaigle. The show, which had some location filming done in Woodstock, Illinois and was announced by Hugh Downs, was popular instantly but suddenly lost favour in 1955 and was then cancelled.
