HITLER: The Rise of Evil

CBS / 2x120minute episodes / 2002

Robert Carlyle stars as Adolf Hitler as the production traces his life from boyhood to his suicide at the close of World War II. Directed by Christian Duguay, the film tries hard not to be one dimensional with a character  whom many would consider one of the most evil men who ever lived and the action covers such events as the Munich Putsch, the Reichstag fire and Hitker’s rise to power in big style. The cast is great from Carlyle’s stunning Hitler to appearances from the likes of Peter O’Toole as Hindenberg, Stockard Channing as Hitler’s mum (yes he did have one) and Ian Hogg as his dad. Obviously its hard to condense such a momentous period of world history down into a few hours of TV drama  but this is a worthwhile production but with the state of the world today we should try more than ever not to forget the atrocities of the past.

With:- ROBERT CARLYLE as Adolf Hitler / PETER O’TOOLE as Von Hindenberg / STOCKARD CHANNING / IAN HOGG
