HOPE AND FAITH
USA / ABC / x30minute episodes / 2003
Sitcom. Misadventures of two sisters, one, Faith, a former Hollywood soap star who has seen better days, certainly better than the day that both
of her characters -- twins -- were killed off. Faith has no brains ("Enough of this depressing death talk. Who thinks I'm pretty?" she says without a
hint of a wink), absolutely no sense of responsibility and no self-awareness. She has no options, either, so she has to move in with Hope her sister.
The older of the two Fairfield sisters, and she's sensible, demure and a control freak (until Faith drives her batty, that is, and she
goes wild). She lives in a sitcom-standard suburban house (in Ohio) with her sitcom-standard suburban family: wisecracking but essentially tame
orthodontist husband Charley; daughters Sydney, an eye-rolling teenager, and
Hayley, a striving
preteen; and moppet 8-year-old son Jason.
