Behind the Scenes
Brian Clemens, the writer behind most of the Thriller series, leans into an “inverted detective story” format here. Similar to the style popularized by Columbo, viewers know from the beginning that Lane is guilty — the tension arises from discovering who knows what, and how justice might eventually be served.
Inspector Rush, portrayed by Gary Watson, adds a classic touch as the persistent detective in a raincoat, always quietly observing in the background.
This episode is notable for featuring a pre-Poldark Angharad Rees, and a young Michael Kitchen, who would later become well-known for his role in Foyle’s War.
Why This Episode Stands Out
