What can we expect from this episode

Season one premiere “Happily Never After” runs for two hours and tells the shocking story of the murder of American Airlines director Jamie Faith in Dallas in October 2020. While out for their daily morning walk with their dog, Faith was ambushed by a masked gunman and shot seven times in front of his wife, Jennifer.

Initial investigation leads nowhere, with police only seeing a black pickup truck speeding away from the scene. Is this a botched robbery, an act of revenge, or the work of something more sinister?

In this episode, we follow the investigation of a case that shocked even the most seasoned detectives, as a double life, a grieving widow with something to hide, and a massive lie are revealed. ABC News correspondent and “GMA3” co-anchor Eva Pilgrim has the report.

A new podcast called “The 20/20 True Crime Vault” will debut this season as a companion to ABC Audio’s popular weekly “20/20” audio experience. On “20/20” every Wednesday, fans of true crime can go back in time to watch past episodes they loved from the show’s vault, aptly titled “The 20/20 True Crime Vault.”

Preview episodes of the new podcast will premiere in two “20/20” episodes this Friday, September 29. In “Dying to be Famous: The Versace Murders,” correspondent John Quiones revisits the shocking murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace; and in “Shattered Love,” featured reporter Deborah Roberts tells the story of David Temple, who was convicted of killing his eight-month pregnant wife, Belinda Temple, after police tips initially pointed to another person.

20/20 continues to combine hard-hitting investigative reports, newsmaker interviews and compelling human interest and feature stories.
