The 30-year quest to bring a clown who killed a florida mother to justice is recounted in a new ’20/20′ report.

A 40-year-old mother named Marlene Warren was shot dead in her southern Florida suburb home in May of 1990 by a clown who had knocked on her door carrying balloons and flowers.

Family and friends suspected her husband Michael Warren right away, but his denial and rock-solid alibi sent detectives back to square one, where they remained for the next 33 years. Sheila Keen-Warren, Michael’s second wife, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in April 2023, just a few weeks ago.

Deborah Roberts, a contributing anchor on “20/20,” investigates the decades-long case and describes how authorities captured the killer in a new episode.

Joe Ahrens, the victim’s son, speaks candidly to Deborah Roberts in an exclusive interview about that fateful morning, what happened next, and how his life has changed since his father’s murder.
