The Royal Television Society award-winning documentary series returns for a new run, following patients who are treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s Hospital in south west London, one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain.

It’s a busy day in Resus for emergency care nurse Tim, who is juggling beds with a steady flow of new patients into the department. Tim reflects on his role and describes the huge impact that his father, a GP, had on his life, before he tragically died of brain tumour. Pam, who has Alzheimer’s, is brought in with suspected sepsis. The 82-year-old’s daughter Lisa paints a picture of Pam in her early years as a lively, fun-loving woman managing a West End club.

Emergency nurse practitioner Maria treats 27-year-old Theo, who hurt his knee while playing football. Maria says she wanted to be a nurse since she was just five. A day that Maria will never forget is the 1988 Clapham rail disaster.
