24 Hours In Police Custody: Two Wrongs (Monday 28 November 2022 Channel 4)

Dinner Date

Today Monday 28 November 2022 the show 24 Hours In Police Custody airs an episode called Two Wrongs on Channel 4

Two Wrongs: Two brand-new programs in the largest true crime documentary series in the UK are back, offering never-before-seen access to the inner workings of major crime investigations.

Two Wrongs opens with a husband and wife being awakened by what appears to be a break-in at their home late at night in a quiet village in rural Bedfordshire. The burglars, whom the husband thinks are intruders, flee the scene on motorcycles as he runs downstairs to confront them. The husband makes the crucial choice to start his car and engage in a fast pursuit. Soon after, police get a call about a tragic accident.

Two men who appeared to have critical injuries are still trapped underneath a car at the scene. One of the motorcyclists is airlifted to a major trauma hospital while the Mercedes’ driver is detained. I’m not going to prison for this, am I, the driver queries the arresting officer as he is being led away. Detective Inspector Grant Maxted of the Bedfordshire Police looks into what transpired during and what caused the tragic accident. What were the men doing on the property doing? Who were they? Was it legal for the householder to pursue them in his car? Was the crash intentional, with him intending to harm them?

DI Maxted’s work involves some uncomfortable situations. The complex live case, which explores potentially fatal and life-altering decisions made in the heat of the moment, is followed by cameras at every turn. Are crimes against people more serious than crimes against things? What exactly are the rights and wrongs of those who decide to impose their own laws?
