60 Minutes: Under The Influence/Hugh Sheridan airs Sunday on Channel 9.
UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Victoria Police is commemorating its darkest anniversary this weekend. It has been three years since a drugged truck driver killed four Melbourne police officers on the city’s Eastern Motorway.
It was the bloodiest day in the force’s history, and a cruel Porsche driver who ridiculed and recorded the dying officers and then showed his buddies made it all the more horrifying.
60 Minutes has teamed up with The Age to investigate a new development in the case that is both strange and disturbing. According to Amelia Adams’s reporting, if it weren’t for his boss’s commitment to a little-known, hard-line religious cult called The Potter’s House, the semi-trailer driver who has now been convicted and sent to prison for his acts might not have been behind the wheel that horrible day.

WHO’S HUGH?
Hugh Sheridan is, without a doubt, one of the kindest persons you will ever meet. He is widely regarded as one of Australia’s best and most popular actors, both on television and on stage.
In 2020, however, Hugh was the focus of a hate campaign so vicious that it nearly destroyed him. It’s hard to fathom why he was attacked so savagely.
He had the nerve to try his hand at acting. The dispute began, as Tara Brown explains, when he was offered the lead role in a musical stage production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Hugh thought it was the role of a lifetime, but by agreeing to play it, he infuriated a vocal and violent minority that set out to have him canceled.
