Today Wednesday 1 February 2023, there is a new episode of Amanda Owen’s Farming Lives.
Episode 2 Amanda travels to the picturesque countryside above Newport in south Wales, where she learns how the modest Castle Farm was reconceived at the outbreak’s outset to sustain four families. Amanda meets Sian, whose idea it was to increase their dairy herd, get poultry, and diversify their business by selling their produce at a farm store.
During a trip to the prestigious Usk Country Show with three generations of the family, Amanda learns about the family’s pride in its history and traditions and the farm’s innovative milkshake machine, which brings in much-needed funds.
While Ben and Martin, Ben’s father, who has farmed the same property for nearly 50 years, tend to the sheep down on the farm, Amanda tends to the sheep up on the hill. Martin boasts about the farm’s progress toward modernization and its ability to provide for future generations.
