Amol Rajan Interviews: Greta Thunberg (S1EP7 BBC Two Tuesday 18 October 2022)
Greta Thunberg: Greta Thunberg, a 19-year-old climate activist who has emerged as the unexpected voice of a global youth, speaks with Amol Rajan.
Thunberg is not a scientist, politician, or the first person to advocate against climate change. The Swedish student has become a symbol for a generation that, in her words, is not being listened to by older people who won’t suffer the consequences since she overcame severe childhood depression to draw attention to the plight of the planet.
Rajan and Thunberg engage in a challenging and in-depth discussion during which Rajan questions some of the suggestions made in Thunberg’s most recent book regarding how to combat climate change. They delve into topics like climate justice, greenwashing, and the role of protest and politics in bringing about change. As a rare glimpse into the real Greta Thunberg, Thunberg also discusses the personal price she has paid for changing the world.
