What is Episode 12 about

The keepers must act now because of a potentially fatal sickness. The ankole cattle present a significant problem for the biosecurity team and the keepers because, like many of the park’s animals, they must be screened for tuberculosis. Keepers often avoid getting too close to the animals due to the danger posed by their long, sharp horns, but testing requires getting very close. They must first be corralled from the field to the testing facility in a massive crowd. The ankole cattle’s keepers aren’t expecting an easy time because the unpredictable animals have never walked through this apparatus before. How cooperative will the animals be, and will there be TB symptoms?

Strangely, the otter enclosure at the park is completely silent. Both Somali and Hamish, two of the noisiest animals, have been unusually quiet recently, and there is evidence to suggest that Somali has stopped eating. Somali is sent to the vet immediately because otters typically have an insatiable appetite.

The Johanssons, Ben and Jean, are on a mission today to get the animals moving. Jean tries to get some hens through a fun obstacle course while Ben is with the tapirs, Jesse and Tallulah. In the meantime, Kate learns why it’s important to measure the gigantic tortoises’ shells annually.
