What is this episode about

More grisly, unexplained deaths are turning up in Scottish waters, and Detective Inspector Annika Strandhed (Nicola Walker) and the Marine Homicide Unit are back to investigate.

The brutal murder of a former police officer on Glasgow’s canals in the season 2 finale hits close to home.

When Annika arrives at the scene of a houseboat fire in Glasgow’s canals, she learns that the victim is a former police officer who was trapped inside the burning vessel. She considers vengeance throughout the case, and the fiery scene causes her to think about Prometheus, the titan god of fire. A murderer who was convicted years ago by the victim but was recently released becomes a sinister top suspect because he seems to take pleasure in playing cat and mouse with the team.

However, the case may have more far-reaching consequences than initially thought due to the victim’s unknown houseguest going into hiding. Annika discovers a heartbreaking truth about the killer as the truth emerges.
