Mysterious Death of Connie Dabate Connie Dabate, a beloved wife and mother of two sons, was discovered dead from gunshot wounds in her basement in Ellington, Connecticut on the morning of December 23, 2015, only two days before Christmas.

Rick, Connie’s husband, was likewise discovered in a bloody, tormented state. He told the terrifying tale of a failed house invasion in which a disguised burglar attempted to loot the family before accidentally shooting Connie twice.

The Dabates appeared to be the picture-perfect family. Connie and Rick were married for 12 years, had two sons, and appeared to be living the good life. Connie was a respected member of the tight-knit Ellington neighbourhood, and the pair was popular among their peers.

Connie didn’t realise that Rick, a devoted father and husband, had a secret credit card and a second phone, and as the case progressed, other darker secrets would be revealed. It was a murder that shook the town and tore families apart. So was this just the sad story of a home invasion gone wrong?

Who exactly was there at the Dabate residence that fateful day? Who would want to kill a mother two days before Christmas?

Forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Hunter deciphers the horrific details of the case with the use of police investigation files, the coroner’s autopsy, and technology data culled from the Dabates’ cell phones and the Fitbit Connie was wearing that day.
