Back in Time for the Corner Shop “Series Premiere” (ABC TV Tuesday 7 March 2023)
ABC’s Back In Time For The Corner Shop series returns, exploring the evolution of Australian society from the 1850s to the 1990s, centred around the iconic corner shop. Host Annabel Crabb joins the Ferrone family as they live and work in the family store, navigating different periods of Australian history, gaining insights from social, economic, and technological changes whilst experiencing everything from fashion trends to progressive gender roles.
Corner shops were ubiquitous in Australian neighbourhoods and served as social hubs for their communities. However, their significance in the community has waned over time. In this latest series, the Ferrone’s – consisting of Carol and Peter, along with their children Julian, Sienna and Olivia – will discover the joys and challenges of being shopkeepers throughout the decades.
In the show’s first episode, set in the 1850s, Julian and Peter run the store, learning their way around currency and serving customers, while Carol, Sienna and Olivia toil behind the scenes handling manual labour.
Airdate: Tuesday 7 March 2023 at 8.00pm on ABC TV.
