Becoming Frida Kahlo airs a new episode tonight Friday 24 March 2023 on BBC Two.

“A Star Is Born” Frida’s world is rocked by tumultuous love and perilous politics. She had her first one-woman show in Europe after having a brief affair with Diego’s political guru, Leon Trotsky. But when she gets back to Mexico, Diego has changed his mind and wants a divorce. She channels her suffering into one of her most well-known works, The Two Fridas.

In San Francisco, Diego and Frida find each other again after being separated by an assassination and an arrest. But her health issues worsen, and she spends her final years in agony, during which she paints some of her most iconic and tragic works despite the anguish.
