Black Sails II (Starz 1 Feb 2014, with Zach McGowan)
In the second episode of Black Sails Flint has staved off a potential take-over but he still doesn’t have the missing schedule log page from the book that will lead them to riches. He knows that someone has been in his cabin searching through the book and thinks that newcomer to the crew John Silver is the most likely candidate. Silver, realising that Flint may be on to him, seeks refuge in the brothel with Max.
Meanwhile Eleanor Guthrie is having trouble with Captain Charles Vane who wants the same deal from her that others, especially Flint, get regarding lucrative cargo stealing opportunities. Eleanor doesn’t like Vane and overly agressive ways and Vane is very keen to be top dog. He also knows about the missing page and wants it.
Flint heads back into Nassau and tells Eleanor that her father is now a fugitive, he also tells her his plans. Flint knows that the authorities want to wage all out war on the pirates and thinks they need a King to unite them. If he can get his hands on the Vasquez gold then he has the ability to be that King.
With Flint’s men and Vane’s men after him Silver decides to memorise the page and then burnt it making himself indispensable in the process. He is eventually caught by Flint.
We are still very much in getting to know all the characters in this second episode. Discovering who our sympathies will lie with. It’s also extremely full on in every regard but certainly doesn’t disappoint.
