In Aftermath, the opening episode of the third season, although taking victory over 80% of the Federation fleet has been destroyed in the battle with the aliens. Star One though is destroyed in the battle. The Liberator has also been critically injured in the battle. With the Liberator about to be lost Avon, Cally and Vila (along with supercomputer) Orac make the decision to abandon ship (there are lots of escape pods aboard). Blake and Jenna are not seen but Cally mentions that they are unwilling to leave.
Avon has landed on the planet Sarren, separated so far from Vila and Cally, he is attacked by a group of the Mongol like indigenous locals. Luckily he is rescued by Dayna, a young woman of Amazonian qualities.
Meanwhile Servalan has also been stranded on Sarren, she quickly finds Avon and Dayna and despite a little Mexican stand off action they all realise they need to work together to get away from the Sarons. Dayna takes the pair of them to her father’s ship, (which is hiding on the bottom of the ocean) Avon is then able to communicate, via Orac, with Zen on the Liberator (which is slowly repairing itself). He learns that Blake got away but whereabouts unknown and that Jenna is injured aboard a hospital ship. Vila and Cally are also nowhere to be seen. Servalan, knowing just how powerful Orac and Avon are, offers Avon a partnership – joint control of the Federation! Of course Avon knows he would be dead within a week if he took up that offer.
Avon has arranged for the Liberator to come within teleport range of Sarren. Servalan has plans of her own, taking Orac for herself. In her attempt to grab Orac she kills Dayna’s father. Recaptured by Avon and Dayne, Servalan makes it plain she will only reveal where she has hidden Orac if Avon will teleport her aboard the Liberator. Left with no option but to agree Avon (after having recovering Orac) does manage to get the better of Servalan and he Dayna and Orac teleport back to the Liberator – only to find a Federation guard waiting for them…
