Budgie: Do Me A Favour (ITV 26 May 1972, with Derek Jacobi)

In Do Me A Favour Hazel’s cousin Herbert (played by Derek Jacobi) is down from Leicester to spend the weekend sight seeing with Hazel. Only problem is Hazel is busy holding her mum’s hand at the dentist and wants Budgie to look after him instead. Of course it turns out Herbert is quite the liability as far as Budgie is concerned. Meanwhile Charlie Endell wants Budgie to pull off a little robbery for him – a well known Soho porn provider Mrs Colman has a large collection of photographs that he wants to get his hands on. Budgie ends up having to take Herbert on the job with him – it doesn’t go well.

A highlight is the funky jazz track that plays over various scenes of Budgie and Herbert trawling the streets of Soho. As always though the dialogue is pure delight. Especially when Budgie is planning the robbery.
