Budgie: Glory of Fulham (ITV 2 Jun 1972, with Lynn Dalby)

Adam Faith in Budgie

In Glory of Fulham Hazel is none too impressed when Budgie tells her he is having a friend to stay for a couple of days – she’s even less impressed when it turns out to be champion greyhound Glory of Fulham that Budgie has just knicked. Budgie thinks the dog could be his ticket to the big time but it turns out that the real owners of the dog are the notorious Collins brothers.

As always the plot is excellent but there is way too much of Hazel and Budgie arguing at home. The final third picks up nicely when Charlie is forced to help out Budgie once again. Not only do the brothers want the dog back ‘toot suite’ but they also want 200 quid in compensation. Charlie agrees to pay the brothers but Budgie will be working for him until his debt is paid off.

classic quote
‘The only kidnapper in the history of crime that pays his victims.’
