Through exclusive and first-time interviews with surviving victims, reporters, former police detectives, forensic scientists, and the officers at the centre of the investigation who tirelessly worked the case for more than two decades, Claremont: A Killer Among Us tells the inside story of the Claremont investigation over two nights.
Sarah Spiers, then 18 years old, left a well-liked bar in Perth’s bustling nightlife district in the early hours of January 27, 1996, in the affluent Claremont neighbourhood.
She walked to a nearby phone booth and dialled a taxi, but she had already left by the time it arrived a short while later. Never to be seen again.
Another young woman, Jane Rimmer, 23, vanished from Claremont five months later in uncannily similar circumstances. By March of the following year, Ciara Glennon, 27, had also vanished.
Young, defenceless women were the target of a serial killer, and Claremont served as his hunting ground.
The longest-running and most expensive manhunt in Australian history began after their disappearances.
Claremont: A Killer Among Us is produced by Joined Up Films for Network 10, with funding from Screenwest.
Airdate: Wednesday 23 November and Thursday 24 November 2022 at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
