In episode two the pandemic hits, and Britain goes into lockdown. For those with dementia it’s an especially hard time, as social interaction helps keep the brain active.

Chris, 44, is determined to make the most of life, despite his dementia. As lockdown eases, Chris spends the summer with his new girlfriend, travelling the length and breadth of the country. But suddenly he faces a loss in the family that reminds him of the future he faces.

Others though, face some tough decisions. Gilly, 75, is deteriorating and Christine is having to do more and more to care for him, but finds it difficult to ask for help. Her family is adamant that Christine needs more support, but she is determined not to put Gilly in care.

Marion, 62, is excited to get out and about after the lockdown, but finds interaction with the outside world increasingly difficult as her visual symptoms get worse. She goes to an eye specialist and hears some difficult news about the progress of her dementia.

Airdate: Tuesday 12 October 2021 at 9.00pm on BBC Two.
