Escape to the Chateau: Episode 4 (Sunday 20 November 2022 Channel 4)
Today Sunday 20 November 2022 the show Escape to the Chateau airs an episode called Episode 4 on Channel 4.
Even though it’s summer at the chateau and the kids are out of school, Dick, Angel, Arthur, and Dorothy still have to get their work done. The water level in the moat is at an all-time low due to the drought and rising temperatures this summer, and the family is doing everything they can to save the fish.
Meanwhile, over in the walled garden, Dick and Angel have seen the potential of the area around the folly since its recent renovation. To make the most of the area, they plan to build a brand-new outdoor lounge. The construction of a wooden pergola to house a summer kitchen (or cuisine d’été) will begin shortly. The floor of the folly receives twenty-four tonnes of paving stones, with the intention of complementing them with a mosaic tiled design. New abutments are constructed for the massive stone wall, and Dick comes up with the brilliant idea of incorporating a grill and chimney into the design.
In the meantime, Arthur and Dick are busy in the chateau kitchen preparing bitterballen for an upcoming wedding. These are meatballs traditionally made in the Netherlands and served with a mustard mayonnaise dip as requested by the bride in honour of her Dutch husband. The bride and groom can arrive in style on a tandem bicycle that Angel and Dorothy have decorated outside. It’s time to finish up the new outdoor gathering space after the wedding is over.
To see how well his new cuisine d’ete travels from the kitchen to the table, Dick hosts a dinner by candlelight as a test run. The family is joined by Papi Steve and Grandma, who get a taste of Grandma’s homemade tomato jam, which was made with the help of Arthur, Dorothy, and tomatoes from the greenhouse at the chateau.
