Fraud Squad: Run For Your Money (ITV 10 Jun 1969, with Caroline Blakiston)
In Run For Your Money a trio of con-artists are in the Midlands putting a new spin on an old con. They are offering new homes for sale at incredibly cheap prices, interested applicants are invited to send them ten shillings for a brochure, Of course there are no houses.
The aim is to get in quick and then get out with a profit of at least £40,000 before Gamble and the Fraud Squad can pin them down for posting fraudulent advertisements.
Kay Pilgrim, who is running the con, thinks she has the measure of Gamble and when he starts putting the heat on she arranges for a house to be leased so that there is actually something on offer.
With 30,000 applicants to choose from Pilgrim admits it will be a lucky dip as to who gets it – Gamble is then able to arrest her for running an illegal lottery.
