The Frighteners: Old Comrades (ITV 21 Jul 1972, with John Thaw)
In Old Comrades, old soldier Gerald Rutherford is paid a visit by Wood and Leggett, two former members of his platoon.
The pair blame him for the fact that they hold him responsible for being given a court martial. As their visit goes on it becomes apparent that the pair have been waiting years to get their revenge on him and that Rutherford’s drunken behavior led to their base being attacked whilst they were in Cyprus in the late 1950’s.
Old Comrades, with it’s script by Robert Holles, is too intense to actually be enjoyable but all three of the players turn in good performances. Robert Urquhart as Rutherford.
