This week marks a first for Glow Up, as our MUAs broadcast directly from TikTok. The MUAs face an intimidating 15 minutes on P.Louise’s platform, where they will be judged by the internet sensation and beauty CEO herself. They have to demonstrate as many different ways to use the product as possible. Cat Burns, a singer and songwriter who became famous after releasing her top-two single “Go” on TikTok, joins the panel of judges.

The MUAs are competing for two opportunities: to assist Cat Burns’ MUA on tour when she opens for Sam Smith at the O2 Arena, and to go live with P.Louise in the future.

The MUA who is armed with the neon blue fluid liner shows off several different ways to use the product, including a flash of blue through the hair, while the MUA who is armed with the yellow eyeliner doesn’t dare to go beyond the eyes. The usually successful MUA has a rough week when their main piece of advice, “don’t wear this look outside,” is rejected by the judges.

P.Louise joins Val, Dominic, and Cat for a post-live debrief and verdicts, during which they discuss the MUA who ignored their viewers at the outset.

The next day at Glow Up studios, the judges will be looking for looks that pay homage to the MUAs’ #core, which includes their communities, customs, and cultures. The MUAs are going all out to impress, with styles ranging from #dollcore and #scenecore to #hollywoodglamcore.

One goes to the contestant who, with just two colours, creates a stunning look; the other goes to the person whose unconventional take on beauty completely floored the judges.

After the judges have deliberated, the remaining two MUAs will compete in the elimination round known as the Face-Off. In this round, they will race the clock to create a black-outlined glossy lip before one MUA is eliminated.

Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star is a competition to look for the next big make-up star of tomorrow. Tapping into the huge online passion for extreme make-up transformations, the series will see a talented cast of hopefuls live and work together as they attempt to prove their potential to industry professionals from a multitude of worlds from fashion to film. With regular eliminations, the challenges will not only test their skills under pressure but also give them the opportunity to unleash their creative vision with jaw-dropping results.
