Grand Designs: The Streets: Season 3 Episode 2 airs Tuesday 23 May 2023 on Channel 4.
Tim is excited for the next chapter of his life, during which he plans to move out of his small flat in Bicester and into a spacious and architecturally daring new home in the Graven Hill neighbourhood. An avid mechanic, Tim hopes to be the first in his neighbourhood to convert his basement into a motorcycle workshop.
This is Michael’s son, and he’s glad to have the opportunity to spend time with his dad on a project. Tim’s five-ton, Chinese-ordered car lift doesn’t fit into the hole he had dug in the basement, causing delays in the construction process.
Jitinder, whose house was only half-built when we last saw him due to problems with moisture and his resin floor, is also contacted. Kevin has never seen his Hollywood Hills mansion before, and he is impressed.
The architectural innovation and risk-taking at Graven Hill, the largest mass self-build site in the UK, has inspired local governments all over the country. Homeowners in the United Kingdom and Ireland now have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build the fantastical structures of their dreams. Kevin McCloud and his co-host, Natasha Huq, follow the development of several of these innovative new projects and travel to Graven Hill and Glasgow to check in on two other, equally ambitious self-builds. All these tales show the strength of character and the lofty goals of the people who designed and built these streets.
