Grand Designs: The Streets: Tom and Lori airs Tuesday 6 June 2023 on Channel 4.

Tom and Lori are tired of living in the city and have decided to self-build in Oxfordshire’s Graven Hill, where they’ll have access to the countryside and the chance to create an architectural masterpiece on what they hope will be the trip of a lifetime.

In order to save money, they intend to do as much of the construction themselves as possible, while hiring experts for the foundation and framework. Before beginning, however, they make the unsettling discovery that the foundation is not level with the frame. What started out as a positive experience ends up being the worst nightmare you could imagine.

Graven Hill, the largest mass self-build site in the UK, has inspired local governments all over the country with its architectural innovation and risk-taking. The British Isles have provided intrepid self-builders with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to construct their most fantastical dreams.

In this third season, Kevin McCloud and co-host Natasha Huq revisit previous ambitious self-builds in Graven Hill and Glasgow, as well as follow the progress of some of these groundbreaking new projects.
