Great British Menu Central England: Mains and Puddings (BBC Two Wednesday 22 March 2023)

Today Wednesday 22 March 2023, there is a new episode of Great British Menu.
Central England: Mains and Puddings There is a lot of strain on the three cooks now that they are in the middle of their heat. In honour of Paddington Bear’s 65th birthday, British animators and illustrators have been asked to submit their own unique takes on a brief intended to showcase the best of British animation and illustration.
Two chefs offer vastly different preparations of beef for the main course, while the third has taken the radical step of making a vegan main. A Desperate Dan pie and a classic Staffordshire welcome mat may be found in the lobby. Each of these three dishes was conceived as an homage to the cartoons of local Midlands artists.
The Bananaman is an ambitious dessert that combines banana cake and ice cream. A dessert from another chef is shaped like a microphone and has the distinct taste of artichoke and sherry. Finally, the third chef tries his hand at making the notoriously difficult soufflé as part of a visually stunning meal styled like a graphic pop video.
There are four contestants from central England, but only two will advance to cook for the judges and compete for a spot in the regional finals.
