Great Coastal Railway Journeys: Grimsby to Humberston Fitties airs Friday 2 June 2023 on BBC 2.

After taking the coastal railway from Middlesbrough, Michael Portillo has arrived in Lincolnshire. He looks into the recent development of Grimsby as a service hub for some of the largest wind farms in the world.

On the shores of the mighty Humber estuary, Michael meets the Humber King, the current holder of the record for swimming across the Humber, and he is thrilled to ride on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, pulled by a miniature steam locomotive.

Michael travels from Cleethorpes to the wild and unusual coastline of Humberston. Half of the UK’s scampi is made at Young’s, and he gets to see how it’s done and even try some for himself.
