Hungry for It: Episode 5 (S1EP5 BBC Three Tues 5 July 2022)

Halfway through the competition, the kitchen is starting to get hot. The cooks must turn basic canned food into a ritzy brunch for the Level Up challenge that knocks the mentors’ socks off.

This week’s guest judge Nathaniel Smith (AKA @TheGrubworksKitchen) is no stranger to mash-ups and has had huge viral hits. He has over 500,000 followers on TikTok. This week’s top restaurant kitchen performer will receive a live cooking demonstration with Nathaniel in front of all of his fans.

The pasta-themed Service Challenge for this week has a twist. There is only one restriction: no traditional Italian food is permitted. The stakes are higher in the restaurant kitchen because the chefs there must make all of their pasta from scratch in addition to coming up with a full three-course menu, while the pop-up must churn out quick bites using pre-made pasta.

The knife-edge Knives Out challenge for this week requires the bottom two chefs to prepare salted caramel sauce-topped churros.

Hungry for It gives 10 aspiring cooks from all over the UK, all desperate to carve out a career in the food industry, a chance to skill up and put their talent to the test, with one amateur cook winning a life changing prize. The chefs will live together in a house, whilst competing and creating amazing dishes, in an attempt to impress industry experts and mentors.

This exciting new competition plays out in two distinct spaces – a restaurant and a street-food inspired pop-up.
