Her work with directors such as Alfred Hitchcock and Roberto Rossellini, as well as her portrayal of Ilsa in “Casablanca,” earned her a place in Hollywood history and a slew of awards.

The documentary Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words is fascinating because it shows the actress’s life outside of acting. With the help of her children, including Isabella Rossellini, director Stig Bjorkman reveals Bergman’s journey from Swedish schoolgirl to Hollywood icon, in a life lived to the fullest, using archival home movie footage, private diaries, and letters read by Oscar-winning Swedish actress Alicia Vikander.
