Today Monday 13 March 2023, there is a new episode of Jonathan Ross’ Myths and Legends.

Series Premiere Jonathan Ross explores the United Kingdom in search of unbelievable legends passed down through the ages. The British Isles have a long history of folklore and mythical riddles. Jonathan Ross guides a journey to recover these remarkable tales, many of which have been lost or forgotten.

Jonathan begins his adventure in Whitby, where he learns the origins of one of the most popular modern myths, Dracula, and explores many of the locations included in the book. He also learns about the largest gathering of “vampires” ever recorded at Whitby Abbey.

Before visiting Mother Shipton’s Cave near Knaresborough, the legendary abode of a herbalist and seer who foresaw the end of the world, Jonathan journeys along the coast to learn about the Hobs, mythical cave-dwelling creatures with healing powers. Jonathan first attempts to make herbal remedies before riding the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway to medieval Haworth, West Yorkshire, where the Bront sisters were inspired to pen some of the world’s best literature.

Before returning to the Moors at night to meet Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock and learn the scientific truth about the will-o’-the-wisps, he stops by the Bront Parsonage to learn more. Back on the road, Jonathan finally reaches Lancaster, also known as “the hanging town,” where he discovers the history of the witch hunt and investigates the castle dungeon where a family was imprisoned for suspicion of being witches.
