Justice: A Licence to Build Your Own Money (ITV 7 Jan 1972, with Joss Ackland)

In A Licence to Build Your Own Money developer Sir Robert Beste has plans to turn 73 acres of farm land into a light industrial estate but is having trouble getting it past the planning department of the local council.

One of the committee wants it to go ahead knowing it could provide hundreds of jobs in the area but committee chairman Brigadier Craig-Astley, a major farmer in the area, doesn’t want it to because it will adversely affect the cheap labour that he uses.

Sir Robert brings in Sir John to take on the committee who of course quickly brings Harriet on board.

Joss Ackland is chief guest star but Frederick Pyne aka Matt Skilbeck from Emmerdale Farm has a small role as a worker suffering under the Brigadier. Emmerdale Farm, made by Yorkshire (as was Justice) would begin later in the year. Other well known faces include Maria Aitken as Ackland’s wife and Michael Gwynn.

classic quote
“You know I sometimes think of you as one of the Three Wise Men…. But only sometimes”. – Harriet to Sir John.
