Kevin Sinfield: Going the Extra Mile airs a new episode tonight Friday 3 February 2023 on BBC Two.
Kevin Sinfield, after hearing that his former Rugby League teammate Rob Burrow had been diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019, “simply went for a run for a mate” in the fall of 2020.
In the time since, he has accomplished three incredible feats and raised over seven million pounds for charity.
In January of 2022, he received an OBE and a special award at the 2022 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony.
After that, he was named defence coach for the England Rugby Union team in preparation for the 2023 World Cup. Beginning with the first challenge, BBC Breakfast has been there to record Kevin and his team’s progress through all three.
Kevin candidly discusses his motivation and the ways in which he has grown as a person while meeting some of the people with MND he has helped and inspired along the way.
