Killer Sally Premieres Wednesday 2 November on Netflix
National bodybuilding champion Ray McNeil choked his bodybuilder wife Sally on Valentine’s Day 1995 when she grabbed a gun and fatally shot him twice.
Sally claimed it was self-defense and a split-second decision to save her life, despite having a history of domestic abuse.
The prosecution claimed it was premeditated murder committed as retaliation by a vindictive and combative wife.
They referred to her as a “monster,” “bully,” and “thug.”
She was referred to in the media as the “pumped-up princess” and the “brawny bride”. Sally claims that she was trapped in a cycle of violence that started when she was a child and ended with Ray’s passing and spent her entire life doing whatever it took to survive.
This intricate true crime tale explores gender roles, domestic violence, and the bodybuilding industry.
It’s directed by award-winning filmmaker, Nanette Burstein (On The Ropes, Hillary) and is produced by Traci Carlson, Robert Yapkowitz and Richard Peete of Neighborhood Watch (Karen Dalton: In My Own Time, Blue Ruin).
Airdate: Wednesday 2 November 2022 from 6.00pm on Netflix.
