Love Story Home For The Holidays ITV 1973 Denholm Elliott

In Home for the Holidays middle aged Lawrence falls in love with the much younger Annabel. Although they love each they find that the age difference makes their relationship difficult especially when it comes to the reaction of other people.

The fabulous Denholm Elliott plays Lawrence, Elliott’s young co-star was Tracy Hyde, she was only fourteen at the time of filming, she had made her debut as Melody in the 1971 movie of the same name. This re-united Mark Lester and Jack Wild from Oliver and saw Tracy and Mark playing a pair of school kids who announce their intention to get married. Hyde dropped out of acting for a while after this before making a few guest appearances in the 1980s.

The script is by Andrea Newman who often seemed to specialise in subjects that would rise the ire of the viewing public. Her most famous series was the headline grabbing A Bouquet of Barbed Wire.

This episode saw the series move to a Wednesday night slot instead of the usual Tuesday.
