Love Story: My Brother’s House (S10EP13 ITV Wed 28 Mar 1973, Leonard Whiting, Frieda Knorr)

In My Brother’s House, when his brother dies Jewish Nicholas is more than prepared to uphold ancient Jewish law and take his brother’s place and fulfil his obligations to his sister-in-law Sandra. It just so happens that Sandra is beautiful and lonely….

This episode brings the tenth season to a close, the always good value Sydney Tafler is the most well known face amongst the cast, however at the time Leonard Whiting was something of a heart-throb having made a breakthrough in 1968 playing Romeo in Franco Zefferelli’s Romeo and Juliet alongside Olivia Hussey. He followed this up with a few more high profile roles but by 1975 had dropped out of screen acting.

Frieda Knorr had a few roles throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s, her most prominent was a regular role on early sixties spy caper Top Secret. She also guested on an episode of Blake’s 7 called Voice From The Past.

Writer Luanshya Greer was a former actress who moved into writing in the 1970’s most notably co-scripting an episode of cult classic Thriller with Brian Clemens. She was married to actor John Carson. Director Henri Safran had also produced the series for the previous two years. This marked the end of his involvement with the programme.
